Cancer Study Sessions 10/14/24 - IAFF local 140 Brothers and Sisters, Please find attached important information from the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute regarding clinical trials dealing with cancer. These two sessions will be on Monday, the 21st (B – Suppression / D-C EMS) and Tuesday, the 22nd (C Suppression / A-D EMS), from 10:00 am – 11:30 am at the Union Hall.

GIVE CANCER THE BOOT 10/05/24 - Lets Fire Cancer On Friday October 4, 2024 members of the Binghamton Professional Fire Fighters I.A.F.F. Local 729 held their 4th annual "GIVE CANCER THE BOOT" fund raiser. Off duty members repurposed their boots to collect donations from generous passing motorists with 100% of all donations going directly to established, promising, world class CANCER RESEARCH.This years event raised a total of $8,147.02 bring the four year total to $36,466.02. Passing of former Mayor of Livonia Dennis Wright 10/04/24 - IAFF Local 1164 Livonia Fire & Rescue is heartbroken to learn of the passing of former Mayor of Livonia Dennis Wright. It was our pleasure to serve the citizens during his tenure, and we are forever grateful for his support. The City of Livonia has lost a friend, mentor and Mayor – Dennis Wright passed away today at age 72.

Firefighters have an increased risk of all cancers, including breast cancer. One study from San Francisco showed that the diagnosis of breast cancer in female firefighters was six times higher than the national average.
